In this economy, I would love to have one of these babies in my backyard. Do you think they would grow in our Indiana climate?

Brian said...: Kudos, Jane. This is THE classic April Fool's Day joke. I remember watching it with my dad as a little boy. Recalling how we both were rolling on the floor with laughter is one of my favorite shared experiences with him. At the time, this was a revolutionary piece of humor, particularly because the BBC NEVER did anything remotely like this. That it was so deadpan totally caught the British public off-guard. In fact, a survey taken following the newscast showed that the vast majority of the viewers were snookered hook, line and sinker.

It's still funny today.
